Below the Surface

A really great way to see and study what is below the ground we stand on is to visit a canyon or somewhere that will allow you to see the layers of earth as you travel down the trails of the likes of the Bright Angel Trail leading you from the Grand Canyon Village to the bottom, it will take about 5 hours to trek the 9.3 miles. While traveling down be sure to notice the layers of rock, the different colors of the canyon walls, representing different geological eras and compositions of the Earth, essentially allowing you to understand the different layers of the Earth as you descend deeper into the canyon. With each layer a story is told about the environment that existed when it was formed.  Beyond the Surface was influenced by my hike and the experiences as I descended the trail.  ID:24-082
