Crossing Over

Crossing over is the exchange of genes between two chromosomes, resulting in non-identical chromatids that comprise the genetic material of gametes. This process occurs during Prophase 1 of Meiosis, (a process where a single cell divides twice to produce four cells containing half the original amount of genetic information) just prior to chromosome alignment and splitting of the cell.  SKU: 23-0125
